Why we Black People Need Healing

It’s really white people’s fault that Ninjas are running around tearing down statues of white confederate history. When any people erases its own history for ANY reason, you are dealing with a very wounded individual people. Someone has been torn down, abused, mocked, demeaned and used when your self esteem is so low that you want to rewrite history and the history of a place because it makes you feel uncomfortable. History itself (that is to say reality itself) is thus some kind of aggression or micro aggression to you that you cannot bear or tolerate to be reminded of? That’s the only reason to tear down statues. It’s the equivalent of not liking the way you look so you take out all of the mirrors in your home. Thus you do not have to deal with the negative feelings and implications generated by what you look like (to yourself no less).

This is the exact opposite spirit of Christianity. We ran to the cross and the cross became the symbol of our religion and our religious enterprise. If this generation of American Negroes existed during that time as early Christians we’d do the exact opposite of using the cross as our symbol. We’d confabulate some Roman symbol of wealth and prosperity in Roman society and use that as our symbol instead of the cross which reminds us of our sufferings. Contrast ‘take up your cross and follow me’ with ‘name it and claim it’. Real Christianity is precisely the opposite! The Christian values his or her testimony above ALL else. What sense does it make to slay a dragon and then pretend like the dragon didn’t exist; you didn’t really slay it! The Christian derives his or her power from the testimony. Far from hiding, the greatest Christian communicators preach it! It was fat boys testimony of being delivered from drugs that made him relevant at the time. Through Juanita Bynum’s ups and downs, many of which you can google, her ministry proceeds out of that. Every real Christian has some kind of testimony where God delivered them from something and they can no more deny and de-name and minimize the thing they were delivered from without demeaning and minimizing God inadvertently or not.

Leave monuments to the confederacy on Stone Mountain. Let it be there if for no other reason than to remind Black people that they have long faced a kind of opposition and whether or not Robert E Lee’s likeness is on a statue, school, street or anything else those ‘negative’ energies will still be around. Come on Negritude, do you really believe if you sandblast Lee et all off the side of Stone Mountain the next day everything will automatically be better for African Americans. Will money drop in your pockets, will your statistically failing community schools be any better, will 3 jobs get created outside the sandblasting industry.

And I bet you nearly all of the sand blasting companies are white owned. And then Black Elected Officials come up with a law for minority vendors, contracts and purchasing in the demolition and other related necessities for sandblasting Bobby Lee et al off the side of Stone Mountain. Sound fair right? In metro Atlanta’s mediocre Black bureaucratic bourgeois politicians……hell nawl. Shit ain’t fair because magically, the only ‘Black and minority’ owned business that get work are ones affiliated with or donors of and to a magically random ad hoc number of players all coincidentally arrayed around the politicians pushing the minority sub contracting law.

I don’t know why Black people don’t take white backlash more seriously considering that it has plagued American history and African American history particularly bad. It has proven worse than coronavirus or the Spanish flu or the great influenza epidemic of 1922. When the ‘white backlash hit’, the promise of the abolishment of Slavery and Reconstruction along fairer lines gave way to share cropping, chain gangs, Jim Crow, Black Codes laws, lynching and the terrorism of the KKK. Oh yeah and lynching is a literal extension of slavery in a very summary legal construct.

The promise of the Civil Rights movement, the war on poverty and integration led to the ‘white backlash’ of Barry Goldwater, the Dixiecrats and Republican southern strategy. This led to the seemingly benign Ronald Reagan but in hindsight it paved the way for ‘celebrity politics’, the rabid machinations of Newt Gingrich, the bumbling toleration of incompetence of ‘G dubya’s’ terms in office and ultimately of course for Trump. All generated by ‘white backlash’. Hindsight is indeed 20/20. And yes, the promise of the election of Barack Obama and the idea of the possibility of a post-racial America has kicked back in ‘white backlash’ and race and race issues are more important now than ever; hardly post-racial by any definition. Donald Trump’s election surfed on the white blowback and push back against that ‘progress’ that Obama seemed to symbolize. Trump’s election and continuing power is inconceivable without acknowledging and understanding how Trump uses race. Trump always uses ‘race’ in fearful and apprehensive terms. Muslim names and people in headwraps are enemies, Mexicans and Latinos (and how would you know the difference if they were legal or not) are criminals rapists and thieves. Trump describes Black people in the same terms, nay even personal terms as he told Elijah Cummings to quit opposing him and go back to his ‘shit hole’ Baltimore with all of the crime, poverty and dysfunction. Cummings would be dead soon and Trump would unleash his next salvo at ‘race’ and his perceptions of Negritude by arguing that Congressman John Lewis should go back to his ‘shit hole’ area of Atlanta and work on the crime, poverty and shitty schools. Trump is able to appeal to these sentiments because he transforms white angst and apprehension about how demographic and other trends are shifting geopolitical realities. Trump has converted this energy stimulated from white angst and backlash into his own personal power and thus his ability to influence and manipulate the Republican Party. My message to the Republican Party would be, it’s not so much Trump you need to worry about lessening, it’s Putin and foreign influence over the party and by default a large swath of American culture. And unlike the above noted minority groups and as we see from Jan 6, it’s hard for white folk to really go after other white folk.

Black people therefore (as strategists) knowing full well ruining the global economy and political and cultural machine that is the United States by making it uncomfortable for individual groups such that they view varying secession schemes preferable to the present USA construct ’tis’ not an option. I repeat that t’ain’t an option. If that is not an option then we need to be sensitive to one another and yes, in despite of (but not ignorance of) what the past 400 years of slavery based existence has done to Black people we need to be sensitive to white folks feelings, not just because its the Christian thing to do but because the blowback is a muthafucka! The blowback from Obama’s election and the chants of ‘Black Lives Matter’ got us January 6 and broke ignorant assed white people strutting around and storming the hallowed halls of congress essentially saying “white lives matter’ too and they matter more as is proved by their treatment compared to Black Lives Matter, Antifa and Muslims being profiled at the airport and public buildings. The white boys, ‘patriots’ and ‘proudboys’ were allowed to go home and they were arrested later, Muslims, Antifa and Black Lives Matter would have gone home in body bags for doing much less.

We all need to slow down. Every group, sub-group needs to slow down. Every time I think about what the Federal Government has become to people I think about the old pagan biblical and pre-biblical gods represented by a cow/woman fertility cult with multiple teats. ‘A titty for everybody courtesy of the Federal Government which has now become an idol. A fat cow with dozens of engulfed teats, only who knows how the post-covid global economy is going to look and what industries will recover faster and go from strength to strength and which ones will lag and either go from mediocrity to mediocrity, or losing and waning strength to losing and waning strength.

Fertility cults and check writing federal government strategies, big mama can take care of everybody. Everybody go to big mama, big mama will do it. If you can’t find a ‘free’ teat’, pump up enough of her flabby skin and stab her with a knife and suckle from there. She will wince with suffering and pain but eventually she will grow a teat and nipple just for you and to the exact proportions of your mouth, teeth and gums. A lawyer and grant writer can be paid to write it up in away that gets results as they can teach you how to sue if you fall in a store, get hit by a truck and need to get on disability. Of course by that definition and our new obsession with subgrouping like LGTBQIA; we don’t know what the fuck it means but I can tell you that apparently all of them are oppressed, pissed off about it and they want revenge on what has passed as sexual (that is, reproductive) normalcy for 300,000 years. If somebody makes you feel bad at work, church, et al because you start dressing like a woman, just get a lawyer. I’m not letting Black people off the hook, you can’t just expect white folk or anybody else (even in your family, spouse, children, near relatives) never to offend you and when they do you can’t just condemn and dismiss them and get them fired or something. In our current society whatever your grievances are just get a lawyer, he or she will tell you how to stab the Feds, insurance companies and corporations in good fatty milky places and make sure you have the right type of knife, honed and sharpened the right way to get results for the federal government, businesses or other individuals you can blame for something. This is the only way I can see a lawsuit going forth against McDonalds that the Coffee was too hot. That judge needs to have an Ebenezer Scrooge moment and travel back to his or her childhood with the ghost of Christmas past and see the first time you as a kid stuck yourself with a pin or touched something hot. Did you learn a lesson or did you sue your parents for maintaining an unsafe household.

Ah, this brave new world. I can’t even let my elderly aunt answer the phone anymore because she takes ALLL calls at face value. Knowing full well she neither drives, needs a warranty for a car she doesn’t own, nor has time to be interacting with stranger salespersons she will listen to the spiel out of courtesy and tell them her real name and real information because in her mind, they must know her or else they wouldn’t have called. I try to explain they got her number off a random list but she can’t understand why anyone would do that even for marketing purposes.

Your children can see sexualized shit on TV and situations you didn’t really know about until you were 30. All presented as completely normative, all presented as completely ‘natural’ and good. Notwithstanding whether it is actually normal, actually natural or actually good or not and by what ‘Authority’ such matters are reckoned, I find it hard to believe it’s so normative now if for no other reason than I had no idea any of it existed or was the case until the age of 30. The corollary of it is that normal, natural and good, why do you have to push it, market it and sell it so hard? The academic, biological and philosophical understanding of why you breathe, drink water, eat, sleep and piss and shit and the hypothetical situations revolving around that may be interesting, fascinating, illuminating and very liberal but you hardly need an explanation that breathing, drinking water, eating and pissing and shitting are normal.

Water companies distinguish the water they sell by its purity and source not its sales and marketing campaign. Its purity and its source IS its sales and marketing campaign(s). Other inferior waters have to distinguish themselves by their sales and marketing campaigns not the purity and source of their water.

The Part after the previous part

While I am sorta on the subject of healing relationships between peoples, I can’t argue with a straight face that Black people and White people need healing in the their relationships not retribution schemes, without arguing first and foremost Black men and women need healing in our relationships. The healing between Blacks and whites is critical to this nation’s political, economic and cultural life but the healing between Black men and women is something far more crucial because it deals with the quality of our individual family lives and the quality of the worlds we are creating for our children and future generations to inhabit.

As I have stated elsewhere Black men and women are the most successful team in human history. From us and our families and tribes walked out of Africa waves and waves of human migration out of Africa populating nearly the entire earth. Our descendants after traveling all of these long distances and places with vastly different temperatures and environments than the original African homeland went on to ‘evolve’ into the physical differences between the races that we know today. For all their insolence and arrogance and their dreams of Isaac/Ismael and Jacob/Esau and the younger ruling the elder they are trapped in a kind of pseudo-scientific conundrum. This connundrum revolves around the fact for that all intents and purposes and no matter much Chinese people are desperate to prove ‘they’ evolved separated from all of the ‘out of Africa’ wave theories, they can’t produce the evidence so far, try as they might with all the weight of the communist party. Obviously you see how reluctantly white folks would be to accept such arguments which is why I have no doubt why white folk are so reluctant to accept evolution as a teachable concept. As long as they evolved from white folk they would be fine with evolution and would figure out a way to work it into ‘Christianity’ the way the Germans figured out a way to work “Hiterlierian pseudo-gothic religion” into the public Christianity of the time.

But of course you can’t say you descend from waves of Africans traveling to the furthest reaches of human habitation over about 300,00 years and experiencing varying levels of success and varying times without admitting some kind of raw homage, religiously, spiritually, politically, culturally to your founding fathers and mothers. Of course then there is the scientific out. They can say that just like there are dramatic physical changes in the difference between white people and Black people, there must needs be relatively obvious or not so obvious, differences in the range of possible differences that would possible allow for our great success in basketball and for intellectual differences which are conveniently related to the rise of European civilization over the course of the past 2000 years. Some of these differences we could sum up in Charles F. Murray bell curve arguments. But I’ve not seen any data correlating intelligence and quality of life, religiosity, passion, energy, being a good parent/caregiver, etc.

There are so many nature v nurture issues that factor into how every single individual on the face of this earth evolves, let alone the varying peoples involved that we would fain assume what makes a good life at any given time and place. That being said by default Aboriginal Black Adam and Eve are real and not just real once but twice. It was their capacity to work together to team together that enabled them to walk the face of the earth monkey looks and manners and all. We cannot deny that there is a war between the sexes framed within the context of divorce rates, unstable relationships and out of wedlock births and paternity challenges.

It has been playing out in Black literary, music and popular culture since ‘The Color Purple’ and Hip-Hop’s seeming obsession with pimp-ho bitch mythology; to Black male machismo and the traditional roles for women generated by the socio-political structures of the Black church over it’s evolution in America through time. To ‘Stella’ getting her grove back to academic and mainstream womanist intellectualism like Audrey Lourdes and since Erika Badu told her former live in lover ‘he better call Tyrone’ and since Beyoncé started hollering about single ladies and thus the greatest team in human history is distorted and set against itself as a matter of habit, if not actual malevolence or deleterious intent.

I’ve spoken elsewhere how Black women make grown other women look prepubescent. I submit to you today the one is genetic breeding over 80,000 to 180,000 years; the other is probably the result of 300,000 of selective natural selection and males voting with their feet in terms of sexual selection. Hmm, one looks prepubescent, on looks voluptuous, ripe, full, strong, vigorous and has the exact same personality…..and apparently can walk from Africa to Japan in 80,000-180,000 years. That’s my girl. Jesus Black man, what you doing? You don’t know what your descendants might need 300,000 years from now. It might be a little better to have some genes in you that can walk from Africa to Siberia ‘on yo mama’s side’ and my side.

And let we evolutionary biologists not forget why mammalian males are physically larger and heavier (in the majority of cases) than their female counterparts. As a matter of fact this transcends our mammalian species and is an interspecies characteristic which is to say very natural. The reason males get bigger and how males get bigger is in those species where the males have to physically compete for females (much of which we have replaced in man with money and wealth as opposed to sheer physicality). If that’s your evolutionary history as a species for the most part that’s why your males are bigger.

Thus it’s not a coincidence that male flirting/unwanted and unsolicited attention is grounds for sexual harassment in the ‘right’ situations. If we include our primate ancestors and the early mammalian ancestors males had to aggressively seek out females (willing or not) and even when you got to them you had to whip somebody’s ass for even a chance at a ‘normal’ relationship in our modern terms. And then on top of that the evolutionary pressure seems to suggest that just like the rich guy, one foot in the grave or not can appear to get the ‘choicest’ ladies. Meaning women themselves have put 300,000 years of evolutionary pressure on rewarding aggression, rewarding overaccumulation of wealth and power, etc. Only now these same evolutionary pressures will get men ‘canceled’ and fired from their jobs. When I saw liberals going after Supreme Court Justice Brett Cavanagh for being a 17 year kid at a keg pool party at a elite country club doing drunken carousing (which is no better whether you do it in a politically correct way or not) I yelled hypocrites at the television. Who the hell has made it their entire lives being politically correct. Most of us simply hope there is no tape of it.

Of course now, post modernity doesn’t respect the sheer rawness and strength of these masculine urges (and we wonder why white folks birth rates have gone down). Now a man has to be a got damn ‘renaissance man’, rich, well educated, good looking\, sensitive, trims his beard perfectly but isn’t vain and loves spending time the kids, but not too much time because that would mean he’s lazy. He must be family oriented but neither a mama’s boy nor doing crazy illegal shit because he can’t let his cousin ‘Rae-Rae’ down. He must stand up for his woman and open doors but not be a male chauvinist or or stereotypical in his understanding of men’s and women’s roles. In essence he’s got to be perfect. Unlike the old days, women are dependent on men for sheer survival. She is there out of self-motivated reasons or no reasons at all. Any area a man doesn’t measure up is grounds for divorce and abandoning the nuclear domiciled family even if their are children involved! Of course that has long worked both ways in terms of men divorcing women for reasons just as trivial in the grand scheme of things.

Concerning families and teams, you can do what ever you want as an individual member but you can’t predict or control the anger and resentment generated therefrom. Better to cool the fuc out and don’t hold everybody accountable for every little thing. But no, you’re on the internet swiping through profiles for an hour and a half trying to find one that looks like the perfect one. Ninja please, trick please, for God’s sake get yourself together. Your mama and aunts and brothers, uncles, the folk at your churches, they got your hook up. But we don’t trust each other anymore we trust computer algorithms and profile pics/info to pick our mates and call it superior to the old fashioned ways. Christian mingle dot ‘bound for the hellfire’. Meanwhile we’re free. We’re so free we’re free to fool other people with our sexuality. But ain’t nobody no happier. We’re so free we’re hooking up but paternity court is filled. DNA tests ain’t going broke. Lie detector tests have replaced implicit love and trust, technology taking the place of ‘faith’. Only the truth ain’t setting nobody free because you got the same problems and destructive dynamics in your relationships (whatever kind of sexuality you deal with) you did before you found out the truth. You can’t take yourself to anybody’s church, revival, frat or sorority party, wedding or festive family social occasion or activity but you sitting up at 3 in the morning sending picture of yourself in your draws to ‘Joe/Johnetta696969’ in Texas. Too weeks from now you’ll be on MTV ‘cat fished’ by 18 year old transvestite from Wichita, Kansas. But you have no love for the old ways. Where is the logic in this. How is the computer a better filter for love than the reality of what you can see and interact with? P T Barnum, the Lotto and gangsters and numbers runners of all sorts know that people believe more in luck than they do common sense and they are willing to pay the price to rely on luck instead of common sense. Trying your luck is exciting isn’t it. For God’s sake grasshopper get your head out your ass and crotch.
