There are a lot of reasons to have and keep a job

A few years ago in a critique of American post-modernity I argued that the sense of having or holding a professional trade for self-actualization reasons and purposes is gone and people would just as soon quit teaching, firefighting, policing and even doctoring if they could make enough money flipping houses or in some other get rich quick scheme you see on late night television infomercials. In America we assume about each other with straight faces that if I won the lotto, I’d not only quit my current job but damn near quit my current life and live the stereotypical life of the ‘jet set’, the elites, the wealthy and the famous. Have you ever noticed that in family businesses (often immigrant family businesses), not a single employee is there because of some financial calculation. As I stated in the title there are many reasons to have and keep a job. There are Acoustic European Classical and Acoustic Black American Jazz musicians that specialize in those forms and have no hope at all of selling as many recordings as Kanye West but remain committed over the course of a lifetime to those art forms and endure hardships and irrelevance just to do what they do.

My favorite fatality in the American Economic mindset is burned out teachers; why are they burned out? Because American parents have a bad, bad intellectual habit of sending lumps of coal into the public school system only to expect diamonds in 2 semesters. At least anecdotally it takes millions of years of intense heat and pressure to refine elements of carbon into diamond……not a calendar school year.

The school system’s response to that parental pressure was not to present the counter argument that it takes time, heat and pressure to make an above grade level scorer on standardized tests in reading, math and science. No, the school system’s response was to coddle the parents and argue that there is nothing at all wrong with their expectations or their preschool training tactics and techniques…..only…..the superintendent has to be ‘right’, the principal has to be ‘right’, the curriculum has to be ‘right’, the standardized tests have to be ‘right’, the school mascot has to be ‘right’, gender pronouns have to be ‘right’, the school board has to be ‘right’, everything got to be right but your muthafuckin child and you reading books to him and shit and teaching him his ABCs long before he or she or whatever gender pronoun you want to use gets to preschool.

So you send your child to school with no home training? Just like no potty training is a ‘deal breaker’ at many day care centers; it should be a deal breaker in the muthafuckin public school system if you send your child up there with the no home training; they don’t know how to muthafuckin listen, they don’t respect authority, they can’t socialize well with other children…etc you know the drill, it’s ‘de rigour’. And then you want a superstar superintendent, or rock star principal to fucking rap beat discipline and intelligence into their head…or as the APS cheating scandal proved, just change the fucking test.

Once a certain age is reached ‘no home training’ should be a deal breaker in public schools. This is not because we are unsympathetic to parents of children with discipline and behavior problems who are not interested in learning. It is because when we let children like that distract the education of other students, nay even the majority of students, with home training or that are capable of pretending like they have home training, we place inordinate socio-economic, psycho-social counseling demands on teachers, counselors and administrators. Teachers, school counselors and administrators should not have to be called upon to be social workers. Parents and families send kids to school hungry, ain’t got no daddy or positive male figure, drama and turmoil in the home and moved 3 times in 1 year, whacked out they fuckin mind and don’t know how to respect authority or nobody else or act and expect a teacher 4 years out of college to fix the problem, or the assistant principal or a superstar CEO style Superintendent or a school board that ‘speaks truth to power’, tells it like it is and gets resources from the Federal and state government….and this we niggas call leadership. The devil is a lie.

But most niggas and even white people are afraid to say that. Well, white people say it about us with innuendo but they ignore the beam in their own eyes. Nigga, your white liberal friends you love would never send their children to your schools but in truth they are not setting international scholastic standards on fire either and many of the other races, especially east Indians and Chinese, Asians in general are tearing them a new ass hole in silicon valley and elsewhere.

Part II

Yet I digress again, there are a lot of reason to work or not work. These reasons bourgeois middle class and upper class elites have taken for granted all of their lives. But when varying COVID19 relief funds hit the masses and gave everyday workers the same ‘flexibility’ all of a sudden choice in the matter of when, where and how you work is looked at like moral issue. Thus we have the Republican’s reaction which was to argue ‘people don’t want to work’ because of government handouts and thus the state must cut off varying check schemes and payments. I agree we need to cut the handouts and payouts out but for a wildly different reason than the Republicans which I’ll have to discuss later.

But as for now, imagine Mitch McConnell working as a waiter at Applebee’s. To use a Trump phrase ‘look at him, look at his face’ who would want a waiter like that brining your food out! Look at him! Look at him. I’m just quoting Trump, don’t think I’m talking negatively about Mitch McConnell’s looks (lack thereof) or his Asian wife. Not only that, Mitch McConnel can’t manage waiting tables because he talks too slow and instead of pushing the chef’s specials and being a team player he tells the customers the dishes for sale are horrible and they’d do better at another restaurant. That’s why he undermines his own restaurant, because it’s so bad. Would Mitch be a good waiter? Should he work the job just because he can’t get elected and needs to pad out his retirement? As I said before there are a lot of reasons to have a job. At least Lindsay Graham grew up waiting tables. he could do it. But would he do it? is he supposed to do it because his morals are so high that if he didn’t need a job at all and had free time he’d work a job, at Applebee’s waiting tables? Let’s ask would you or rather could you image Lindsey graham as a door to door salesman, selling vacuum cleaners. It’s a job isn’t it. But middle class people have options and neither one of those muthafuckas would wait tables at Applebee’s or sell vacuum cleaners no matter what you thought of their morals and work ethic for not doing so…they just have different options. Your ‘options’ as poor White, poor Black and poor brown person with a stimulus check or two are a moral failing; their options are like Bobby Brown said, ‘their prerogative’ as in it’s an entitlement. Not having to work a rough gig is an entitlement. It’s nothing wrong with it; we all take advantage of it when we can but we should not let Republicans and Partisan Conservatives make the argument it is a moral failing when poor people exercise their options, even if it is because of a government check.

The Republicans should have done a reboot of the witches of Eastwick now retitled the ‘The Bitches of Eastwick’ starring Mitch McConnell’s Asian wife, Lindsey Graham’s ‘phantom menace’ wife, Donald Trump’s Soviet Satellite Russian wife, Candace Owens, Diamond and Silk, Laura Ingraham, Clarence Thomas White wife, and the ghost of a Christmas past that must be met on a street corner in a community so white…..well as white as I said, ghostly white, pale white, mayonnaise white, alabaster white, chalk white; singing Christmas carols and dancing like white people dance at a Phish concert.

All of the Republican ‘Bitches of Eastwick’ have secret powers to seduce egotistical and thus vulnerable White men. Let us take Diamond and Silk for instance, the phenomena of their rise to prominence in White conservative circles is the proof that mocking yourself; that is making yourself as a joke will always be entertainment to your former enemies and people who don’t like you that much now either. To quote Donald Trump again, I ask any sane White Republican man to look at Laura Ingraham and listen to her tone of voice and attitude and I ask the question “who would want a wife, girlfriend, boss, coworker, etc that looked and sounded like that! I’m not critiquing women and feminism, I’m just quoting Trump. Mitch McConnell’s Asian wife silently goes about her duties like the ghost of an effeminate rich White man’s fantasy that however is playing the straight game for it’s obvious material benefits. How do you have sex with a ghost? Precisely.

If I were a White woman I would be offended the way Black women are and should be offended when rich Black men show up with White, Asian and Latino wives. A regular White woman ain’t good enough for Mitch McConnell? Muthafucka you from Kentucky and a White woman ain’t good enough for you. Get the fuck outta here! What are you really hiding?

I hope that somewhere previously I have discussed Lindsay Graham’s ‘phantom menace’ wife. Suffice it to say here that this muthafucka says with a straight face that he is single except for the fact that he got engaged to a stewardess he met on an international flight 30 years ago. Other than that he is like Stacy Abrahams (the single non-dating Romance novelist) in that they love talking about things they don’t know shit about. Just like Stacy I’d be surprised if ole Lindsay can produce a prom picture to prove he’s had any real experience with women!

Should it not be taken as completely logical then, that the Republicans have three big Lindsay Graham, Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump sized reasons they and the Republicans failed to reach out to middle and upper middle class White American women? Of the three biggest most powerful White men in the Republican Party and thus American politics; one is married to an Asian woman so quiet, so demur, she defines the stereotype of the submissive wife from 200 years ago; the second like a Catholic priest has no carnal needs except a phantasmal and maybe even orgasmic reaction he had to a stewardess he met 30 years and hasn’t been able to replace since; and the other simply wants trophy wives and to ‘grab em by the pussy’! I’m sure White women are wondering and yes turning gay as they wonder, what the fuck is the use of 100 years of liberation if what we become our White men won’t love anymore. As a matter of fact, no disrespect intended to any community or group I’m thinking to myself of Hannah Gadsby. The purposely unfunny comedian, the purposely unwomanly woman and the purposely unsympathetic to white men, white woman, dressing and pretending to be a White man. Absolutely fascinating as my old seminary professor Dr. Edward Wimberly used to say, absolutely fascinating.
